Florida legislators go pro-ignorance

February 14th, 2008, 2:49 pm · Post a Comment · posted by fsherman

You may recall my post from a couple of days ago about Rep. Marti Coley pushing for science classes to include intelligent design and creationism along with evolution (subsequently backing off to say all she wants is for evolution to be taught as theory, not fact).

Now future House Speaker Dean Cannon has come out in favor of teaching intelligent design, and Sen. Stephen Wise wants creationism taught.

Bad idea, since neither one has a shred of scientific evidence in its favor and a great deal of scientific evidence disproving them. The only reason for including either in schools is religion.

But this is the Florida legislature, after all, so I’m not terribly surprised.
