John Derbyshire of National Review Online,explaining how all white Americans are festering with racial hostility under the skin: “Put me in a room with a white American for a couple of hours and I can work them round to the point where they are telling me about their last mugging, the last time some black DMV clerk insulted them, or whatever. And when you get your white American to that point, the mixture of relief and rage with which it all spills out is like a boil bursting.”
He then goes on to explain that “In observing American racial attitudes and politics, the interest is in the variety of ways white Americans smother their despair. Some, of course, don’t. They are the kind of people whose groups you find on the Southern Poverty Law Center’s ‘hate’ list, though many of them are not noticably hateful, only, as they would put it, ‘realistic.’ Hate is not a synonym for despair.”
“Not noticably hateful?” The SPLC lists the Aryan Nations, neo-Nazi groups, Christian Identity organizations (white supremacist Christian extremists), skinhead groups such as Hammerskin Nation, the KKK, the anti-gay Watchmen on the Walls and more (including black extremists, though those obviously aren’t relevant to Derbyshire’s point). Which ones does he think are the realists, pray tell?

So Pastor Wright said some “inflamatory” things about “white Ameirca. Wow!!!
First question on that should be, is what he said “true”.
Take a criminal sitting in a courtroom while the prosecutor is giving the closing arguments about the crime the criminal committed. What criminal would not think that the prosecutor’s words were inflamatory?
So the real issue is, has america committed any crimes for which it should be damned?
Is it not a matter that “white” America is in a state of denial and would rather that the victims if its crimes just shut up?

This case is no different than the one in Texas where a white man shot and killed a blackman because he said “I saw 3 guys robbing my neighbors house and I’m going to kill them”. This guy was not charged and people said he had a right to kill them on someone elses property. That case should have been sited in this situation.

Where I live, Mr. White would have never been indicted. Not because he’s black, but because, here, you drive up to someone’s house at 2 AM, threatening to “whip” them, “beat” them, etc., and you will get the sh*t shot out of you. It’s called letting your mouth overload your as*. No one, and I mean NO ONE, white or black, will have any sympathy on you.
I guarantee you, the boy that was shot, was drunk, and I believe with all my heart, he was threatening to kill Mr. White’s son, and probably Mr. White. I know I would have shot him, and probably more than just him. I would have never approached him to talk/reason/argue with him; with a mob of smart mouthed, (L. I. Italians, no less, who have a rich history of hate crimes towards blacks), teenagers. I would have called 911, told them a group of young men were on MY property threatening me. When I hung up, I would have waited until one of them took one step coming up my drive, and I would have let loose with a double barrel shot gun.
If the parents want to blame someone, they need to go stand in front of a mirror a long time; there’s the guilty parties; the parents. The fact that even drunk, their son would go to someone’s home to attack them, shows a total disregard for other people, and a huge amount of stupidity. Apparently, they never taught their child respect for other humans, and that a man’s home is his castle. I wouldn’t have even given Mr. White 2 years; I would have said, time served.
The parents reaction, (a threat towards Mr. White’s child), and their refusal to take any responsibilty for the lack of home training their son had, is proof to me, of why the boy is dead and who is responsible.
BTW, I am white, 47 years old, and in the deep, rural south. I hate it the kid is dead, but I blame him and his parents, not Mr. White.
I can not understand why a black man would even want to live in L. I.; or a white person, either, for that matter.
Mr. White, move to Montgomery, Alabama, or Chatanooga, Tn.; there is plenty of work, and you will not see anywhere near the racial strife you find in the state of New York.

Just to note that another comment was deleted because it included some mild profanity–nothing that would have bothered me if this were my own blog, but I’m writing as a newspaper employee, so I have to be a little stricter.

What kind of slanderous blog are you running? This case with John White murdering Daniel Ciccario is wrongfully sentenced and you sit their talking about how white’s have all this racial tension built up in them, take a look in the mirror, you take it as far as the internet to talk about it becuase you feel racial tensions too you hippocrate. If this happened to my family , you’de better believe im going to be racist..

Uh, Steve, I quoted Derbyshire because I think he’s wrong and offensive–as witness my pointing out that he’s counting creepy white supremacist groups as “realists.” I’m sorry if you took that as my endorsing his views.
