Scott the golf-cart dealer speaks (6:24 p.m.)

(Didn’t catch the last name).
“I know speak for thousands of local people and guests who’ve come to me … with the expectation golf carts should be legal. Without exaggeration I have turned down 1500 calls to lease golf carts” because of the need.

He said there’s a lot of disappointment and anxiety because people can’t see why Destin “can’t get this together.”

90 percent of LSVs probably aren’t in 100 percent compliance–”I know most of them do nothing to increase the speed, I know they’re not adding impact resistant windshields, they’re doing everything to make it appear legal.”

Plus, you’re talking about a lot of cost–insurance, modifications, etc.–that isn’t necessary. The state allows the city to let golf carts on certain roads–”they’ve given us this opportunity and said ‘do with it what you want.’”
